The End of Open-Jaw Rentals in France

The Sunday Times reported this weekend that car hire companies in France are now charging for dropping a car off in a different location.

Traditionally the rental companies in France did not charge for open-jaw rentals.

When booking look out for the frais d'abandon or one-way fees, which can be as high as £74 to pick a car up in Paris and drop it off in Nice.

As always, study the small print of rental agreements closely to make sure you don't get stung for unexpected charges.
