Business Travellers – Don’t Just Bung Excess Waivers on your Credit Card?

OK, so it's not your own money and you're short of time and need to get to the meeting that you are now running late for, having waited for over an hour get to the front of the car rental desk, but don't just bung your credit card at the car rental desk worker without knowing how this might impact you or your company.

Here at iCarhireinsurance.com, we were very surprised at the results of our YouGov survey last year which revealed that business travellers were not as clued up on car hire excess as we might have expected an experienced traveller to be.

92% of business travellers did not realise that if their hire car was damaged or stolen in Europe, even if it wasn't their fault, then they would be liable for the first part of a claim i.e., the excess amount of up to £1500. That is 92% of people leaving themselves, and therefore their company, liable for up to £1500 every time they hired a car for business.

The survey also revealed that 17% had been scared into buying extra insurance at the car rental pick-up desk, with over seven out of ten business travellers (76%) not knowing that they could buy car hire excess insurance from providers other than the car rental company.  And indeed the vast majority, over half (57%) also did not know that this insurance is significantly more expensive than they could buy elsewhere.

As all companies look to cut costs in every direction, you could be a popular person indeed if you buy your excess insurance in advance from iCarhireinsurance.com using our 'EXCESSIBLE' corporate account service for business travellers which provides full car hire excess protection cover and is up to 80% cheaper than buying it from the car rental company.
