How does Thrifty’s Car Hire Insurance work?
When you hire a car with Thrifty, the following cover is included in your rental:
- Third Party Liability Insurance
- Collision Damage Waiver
- Theft Protection
An excess fee for damage and theft applies. This is the amount you are liable to pay should you hire car get stolen or damaged during the rental period. For economy and standard car groups, this excess liability costs £1,000. For luxury and elite vehicles, this can go up to £5,000. Additionally, for economy and standard cars, a deposit of £500 is required.
What are Thrifty’s Excess Reduction charges?
Thrifty offers excess reduction products which can reduce your excess liability* in the event your hire car is damaged or stolen.
Risk Freedom – This reduces your initial deposit from £500 to £250 and reduces your excess liability from £1,000 to £250 for accidental damage and theft, including damage to the windscreen, glass and tyres. This can cost £11.50 per day.**
Risk Reducer – With risk reducer, your initial deposit amount and excess liability amount still applies for accidental damage, theft and loss to the hire car. However, it offers zero excess to any damage to the windscreen, glass and tyres. This can cost £7.15 per day.**
Both products include full roadside assistance.
*Excess reduction is not available to drivers aged between 21 and 24 and only at participating locations.
**Based on 4 to 13 days hire for a standard vehicle.
