Hiring a car with Sixt? We can offer you car hire excess insurance to help cover you against any excess charges you may incur from Sixt if your hire car is damaged or stolen.

How does Sixt’s Car Hire Insurance work?

When you hire a car with Sixt, the following insurance is included as standard if you are paying online:

  • Third Party Liability cover
  • Damage protection
  • Loss Damage Waiver (including theft protection)
  • Breakdown cover

Loss Damage Waiver removes any financial responsibility from the customer for loss or damage to the hire car. It usually comes with an excess amount – this is the amount the customer is financially liable for. Depending on the vehicle, this can range between £1,000 and £5,000. There are options to reduce this excess amount with additional excess reduction products such as Top Cover LDW or Super Top Cover LDW. Glass and tyre cover is covered under LDW but a minimum excess applies.

What are the Sixt’s Excess Reduction charges?

Sixt offers 2 excess reduction products, which can reduce your excess amount or remove it completely.

Top Cover – is an excess reduction product which reduces your excess amount from £1,000 to £500. This can cost £17.92 per day*.

Super Top Cover is a zero excess cover option, meaning your excess liability is reduced from £1,000 to £0. This cover also includes Tyre and Glass cover. This can cost £21.28 per day*.

If you are renting in the UK, and you take the minimum excess, Tyre and Glass protection is included within the reduced excess rate. However, if you choose not to take the minimum excess, you can choose this cover, but at an extra charge. This can cost £8.95 per day*
