On the 5th June iCarhireinsurance was recommended by Chris Haslam in the Sunday Times. The story revealed that car hire companies are charging more and more for excess waiver products leaving customers paying over the odds

at the rental desk for insurance to commission driven rental staff. The article follows research from iCarhireinsurance released on the 30th May that revealed as much as 51% of the cost of vehicle rental is added at the rental desk, irrespective of the headline rate the customer agreed to pay for their vehicle. The Sunday Times conducted their own research and found that in some instances the car hire excess insurance sold at the rental desk was more expensive than the rental cost of the car!!

The BVRLA went on record stating that £45 a day for insurance was “completely reasonable” before the article moved on to point out that iCarhireinsurance sold a comprehensive daily carhire excess insurance policy for just £2.99 a day. Our Chief Executive Ernesto Suarez featured in the article and reiterated our key message; to get the best deal on car hire insurance – buy before you fly!
