Car hire excess insurance is an optional insurance product that covers you against any excess charges you may incur when you hire a car. If your vehicle is damaged or stolen whilst in your possession, the rental company will ask you to pay the first portion of these costs (the excess charge). By having excess insurance in place you can protect yourself against these charges.
